Trick or Treat Safety for the Whole Family

Trick or Treat Safety for the Whole Family

Halloween is almost here. Before you go running amok. amok. amok with your favorite little witches and warlocks, we have a few safety tips to ensure everyone has a safe and happy Halloween.

Be Bright

Adults and older children should carry flashlights. Glow stick necklaces and bracelets are a fun and cheap way to keep younger kids more visible in the dark. You may also want to consider a reflective runners belt. You can also purchase reflective tape or stickers to attach to candy bags, clothes or shoes.

Safety in Numbers

There is always safety in numbers. Gather friends, family or neighbors and go trick or treating together. In addition to being safer, kids often have a lot more fun running house to house with their friends, cousins and neighbors.

Go Before Dark

Going trick or treating before dark is especially good for younger kids. It it easier for drivers to see kids when there is still daylight. Plus they will be home in time to dish out candy to trick or treaters who come to your house. Little kids often have just as much handing out candy as they do getting it.

If you have older trick or treaters in your party, you can encourage them to be in early by having a post trick or treat party. They can examine their haul, trade for favorites and stay up late watching Halloween movies instead of being out in the dark late at night.

Be Prepared

No matter how well you know your route and neighborhood or how many people are in your group, you should always be prepared for anything. We recommend at least two adults in your party carry Pee Pistol just in case. It is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
